Interesting...the Quadro XGL700 and 900 series are the current king of the hill in their price segments, and these new Wildcats seem to be doing fine against them. However, they'll have much fiercer competition once ATI's R300 based FireGLs and nvidia's NV30 based Quadros arrive...

Will 3D Labs be making a card for the gaming market? Or are they sticking to rendering only?

Yeah I saw that one a few days ago. It's disappointing that no gaming benchmarks were shown.

I have a feeling that the upcoming new ATI FireGL with 1-4 R300 chips will outbeat this one by alot :)

i guess we shall see if creative labs does anything with it
I would have liked to have seen Tom sneak in some mainstream OpenGL games' benchmarks like Quake3 or JK2, just to get a rough idea of how it performs in those tasks.

Well, the target market of Wilcat cards has never been gamers, so its understandable that gaming benchmarks weren't run. Besides, in earlier review/previews, some sites did run gaming benchmarks on the P10, with disappointing results. The DirectX drivers are pretty dismal, not that its 3DLab's fault since the Wildcat was meant for gaming. If you want the P10 for gaming, wait for 3DLabs/Creative to come up with some Permedia level card based on the P10. However, something tells me it'll probably end up like the Parhelia.

That's what I think as well. Despite the preview hype that hinted that it would be a good gaming card I think it'll fall short of expectations because fundamentally it has been designed around the requirements of professional 3D apps, not games.

also the specs are almost identical to the parhelia for the most part
