Just picked up a new monitor today, a 28" Hannspree from Best Buy and I am very pleased with it.
The resolution of this monitor is 1920 x 1200

My current video card is a 3870 and now does not play smoothly in games. So far I have tried The Witcher and Crysis.

I am wondering if a 4870 would cure my ills or would I be better off with a 3870x2 because it has more memory. An SLI or Crossfire setup is not an option with my system.

General system specs..

E8400 @3.6 Ghz.

4 Gigs Ram.

Dual Boot Vista 64 and XP pro.

I am far from a video expert, I just like to play my games with the best settings I can... so I call upon the power of anandtech to solve my issue.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

A 4870 will do you fine. The 3870x2 doesn't actually have more memory...it's 512x2mb but the card acts if it only has 512mb. Crysis you'll have to turn down settings to play at that res though.
