I've been hoping for larger LCD monitors to come to the PC for a looooong time now. Seeing the 30 inch Apple Cinema display has permanently spoiled smaller monitors for me. Anyway, I found the following site which describes LCD products recently displayed by manufacturers at FPD International 2005 (Oct 19-21) in Yokohama.
FPD International 2005
If you look down, you see that LG-Philips (makers of 30 inch Apple Cinema) displayed their 30-inch LCD panels. Nothing new there. What's interesting is the table that is shown under the Samsung heading. We see the 24-inch panel that is the basis for Dell's 2405, but two additional models are listed as well, a 27-inch 1920x1200 panel and a 30 inch 2560 x 1600 panel.
I'm not sure if Samsung is ready for these to come to market or not (they're also displaying a friggin' huge 82-inch full HD consumer LCD television that I'm SURE will not be out anytime soon), but this info gives me hope that perhaps the 30-inch Cinema will have some higher quality, lower-priced competition sometime in the next 6 months.
Anyone have any additional info?
