I recently bought a Hitachi Deskstart 7k250 (250MB) at Frys.
While the disk drive works as files can be accessed, PERIODICALLY I hear a high pitched grinding/spinning for 2-3 seconds (noise is louder than my fans). Then it stops. The noise when I access files from the HD is the normal clicking sound, except for these periodic gaggles.
This noise, doesn't sound like any hard drive noise I've ever heard. It happens about 3 times per hour.
Since I'm new to large HD's, is this noise normal. Or did I get a lemon? It does work, btw, except for this disconcerting noise. Can anyone disgnose this for me?
Please advise...........
