So many things wrong with this.

How is taxing guns going to stop/lower violent crime?

How is taxing an enumerated right in the Constitution legal?

Guess this paves the way for a new poll tax.

How many black market guns are going to be subject to this tax? You know, the ones that violent offenders tend to use.

They dropped the bullet tax when that was perhaps the only legal thing in this mess of legislation even though it would have nothing to lower crime either.

Just another case of more ridiculousness from Crook County and also more leftists thinking that more laws are the answer to lowering crime. As if criminals obey them.

a right guaranteed by the constitution is not taxable and against a SCOTUS ruling.

It's a consolation prize to the activists.

And another revenue stream to a deeply broken city.

I think it is awesome that criminals will now pay a $25 tax per firearm in Cook County.

I still didn't bring up race, you did.

You are the only one bringing up race. See the word race right in there. I am not the only one bringing up race. You used the word race right there in your post. Please don't deny what anybody can see with their own eyes. Admit you used the race word. You can't because you are a conservative and conservatives are racists. Note the earlier black market thingi.

Revenue stream, good idea. Revenue stream that should very likely be interpreted to violate the 2nd Amendment, bad idea. Rights simply should not be taxed. I can understand requiring permits to have large gatherings for protests as you're not taxing free speech but taxing an event. Same with sales tax on firearms, you're simply not granting an exception to sales which affect any other items. This however is a direct tax targeting a direct right and would appear to be unconstitutional.

This is as unconstitutional as the voter id laws and should be opposed by the right and the left, as should voter id laws.

Right. You are probably just as good at English as Matt isn't. Check out all the conservative racial bait words in the OP:

violent crime

enumerated right

poll tax.

black market guns, violent offenders

Crook County, leftists thinking, laws aren't the answer to lowering crime. As if criminals obey them.
--------------

All buzz words for the evils of black market economy and a slave market where conservatives think black people should be.

I agree. They should have just taxed the bullets if they were going to tax anything. I still would have issues with it if they said the purpose was to lower violent crime.

Now if they said it was simply to generate revenue, fine by me. I know its a long shot asking for lawmakers to be honest, but I can dream.

See what I mean. I nailed it down for you but you won't admit you mentioned race even though I showed you right where you mentioned it by the use of that exact word.

Perhaps I am giving you too much credit.
