New 212+ install-Temps?

Hey i have just switched out the recalled p8p67 pro and installed a Coolermaster 212+. My Load temps seem to be lower when doing prime 95 but my idle seems to be about 5-7 C higher. Is that normal or did i screw something up. Not overclocking now. My asus sensor is reading 32 idle and around 46-49 when prime 95 was running. I used to get 25-27 when idling with the stock Intel cooler

Have a 2500k

My thread should be a pretty good starting point for you.

Thermal Paste with direct contact heatpipe coolers is trickier than others. So I would read that guide that is posted, and check your thermal compound application first. Then make sure your fan is blowing properly (sucking in from ram side, blowing thru heatsink, out to rear exhuast fan.

My Core i5 temps at stock are roughly the same, mid 30's (pictures of temps in the thread) and load temp (prime95) is about 50-53. So I would say, based on your load temps, you are fine. Though if you want to make 100% sure, check your thermal compound application.

I really wonder if something is glitched with the idle temp monitoring on the new p67 boards. The fact that you had idle temps of 25C on the stock cooler and are now at >30C with a Hyper 212+, despite lower load temps, tells me something is odd. Both of you guys have amazingly low load temps, much lower than p55 owners, and yet our idle temps are significantly below 30C.

OP - use HWMonitor to check temps, which is what Flaus used in his thread (and which is what I used). Then you'll be comparing apples to apples.

Yea i have been using a bunch of different things to read temp.....that was just the easiest to write

hwmonitor
min max
core0 26 42
core1 29 46
core2 28 48
core3 27 46

Did about an hour of prime 95

What kind of temps should i be getting if i did everything correctly?

I don't have a SB chip, so I don't know, but those load temps seem amazingly low. And your idle temps are way below 32C - that's why I was wondering about the Asus monitor's 32C. I don't think you have any problems at all.

Yea i don't think that the asus monitor is showing the same thing.....and it is just giving an overall temp for the whole chip. So who knows how they get to that number

What I have noticed, at least with motherboard utilities for temp monitoring, is it only displays the highest core temp. At least that is what I have seen with ASRock, when I have the Extreme Tuner open with HWMonitor.

Moejoe128,

I have a similar setup, 2500k with the P8P67 standard and switched out the stock cooler for a 212 when I exchanged the MB for a Rev3 board. Your temps mirror mine and I think all is fine. I would bet you never updated the BIOS with your old board. I noticed with the shipping BIOS on the defective P8P67, AI Suite was showing CPU idle temps lower than the MB temps, but after I did the first BIOS update, I was getting much higher idle temps.

Yea i didn't upgrade the bios on my old board. I suspect i just have a working AI suite II sensors now with the new board/bios. That's good that i have the same temps as you......i think i can relax now. Oh and another cool thing that my comp was telling me was that my Motherboard temp was 125 C.......mistake. Went away with a restart

Thanks for everyones help
