New 2100+ AiHUB chip here and the hsf looks funny!!!

I have purchased 3 of these this month (I am an intel fan who knows where my customers markets are!!! I help amd more then man here!!!) and this retail package has a total new hsf compared to the other 2...It seems much more quite and the hs looks slightly bigger...NO green fan on top of the hs like the others....

Not meant tobe oc'd, but ofcourse this board undervolts to 1.58v and no voltage options but I will try 166...The last 2100+ booted to it but didn't ass prime95...My wifes 2100+ wont boot to 166 but did boot and pass at 160. I have buffalo pc2700 for all of them so the ram isn't holding any of them back....

Hehehe...Wish I had a dig camera for some pics......

No it has a fan but it is black and since the heatsink is a bit wider then the other 2 the fan is actually smaller then the heatsink and has a black housing that spans from all four edge of the heatsink. The clipping mechanism that clips to the socket is different and much larger which is nice when you use a flat end screw driver to push the clip down. Now it actually is large enough to be able to get scew bit on something sturdy and virtually no way to slip and damage something.

It is much more quite, but I need to go up and look at the wifes pc to see what the fan rate is in rpm...This is running a silent 2900 rpm and my cpu temp is 36c idle and my wfes it at 44c idle....

There is usually a manufacturer's name, logo and part number on the heatsinks AMD includes with the PIB's. I have had two, an AJIGO and an AVC. Get the information from the heatsink and look them up. Post it here so others can see exactly what AMD is currently using.

Barton 2500+ heatsink and fan!
XP2400+ heatsink and fan!

The fan on the AVC has the blade tips scalloped. Instead of them being just flat tips, they have a distinct curvature. Its about the last 1/4 inch of the blade. I presume it is some kind of noise reduction design.

The Ajigo had a big flat slab of copper for the bottom. It wasn't pretty to look at either.

The AVC is much more refined. It has a round copper slug insert in an all aluminum heatsink. Very little visible machining marks.

AMD can use any heatsink that it is confident will protect the warranty. There are countless heatsinks for AMD to choose from. I had to rma the xp2400+ and AMD wanted me to read the number on the heatsink.

It is the AVC one on the Barton.....It does appear to be a much more effective cooler as I have stated as well...My wives pc which is absolutely identical runs 5c higher at idle...and loads 8c higher....This is a much better heatsink and pretty darn nice for those ppl buying xp2100+ now...

you have 3 2100s that wont do 166 thats strange they are one of the best amd overclockers.these are the new locked cpus? 0340 and later steppings?what mobos are these ecs? i would imagine its the mobo not the chips.

Wolverine...It all likelihood they would but I have been coupling them with a shuttle nforce3 mobo with onboard vid,sound,lan,etc....They were not meant to be overclocked systems I just wanted tosee where they would go..

With this mobo I can not change the multiplier and/or raise the vcore...It undervolts on all 3 of the shuttle boards to 1.58v at default vcore...My wives can do just shy of 166fsb and I am sure with a slight vcore boost to get it to be actually default may do it.

I was basically testing with avergae power supplies, retail cooling, and a mobo with no vcore adjustments....Wasn't really tryin to hard if you get my point.
