The 9855 should be around $450. I am HOPING it will be coming out mid-late febuary, but some say it might be as late as april

I was all amped to get the AVIC-N2 from Pioneer this year for my GTO...but looks like with my new financial situation, I'll just be doing some engine work and that's it for a while

Those new Alpine heads look great though, I'd definitely get an Alpine or Eclipse if it weren't for my Pioneer connection.

Looks very nice! I've been waiting for these new units to come out. I'm certain these will be built to work better with the IPOD interface. The choice between XM and Sirius is also a plus. I'm definitely getting one of these!

I dunno I've always thought Alpine was better than Eclipse. My wife and I got my mom an eclipse head unit a year ago for christmas. I like it but I still like my Alpine more

Alpine and Eclipse both rock! Probably the best two head makers in hte industry. Oh well... not till I have accumulated some cash will I do a stereo again. I miss the old days of my $3,000 system.

I have an old CDA-7995 and that rocks.
I probably won't be getting any more head units anytime soon since I don't want to change the unit on the new (old) car that I am buying.

I don't think the picture you've shown does the deck justice. This is a smaller pic but what you'll notice is that the LCD has some REALLY nice color. VERY nice!

I've actually still got a Rockford 8250 (rebadged Denon for those that don't know) I got from Sound Domain still sitting in my closet...only opened to check the contents

With that said I just bought an Alpine 9835 but I've been looking at a few other units now:

Eclipse 8455 (10 band parametric equalizer )...should be out sometime in February
Alpine 9855...maybe out sometime late March or early April
Clarion DRZ9255...already out but don't know if this unit is worth the price premium over the other units

you can take that up with sony... some of the worst head units in the industry

It has been very hard for me to find information about the new decks. The picture I put in is the only one i could find. thanks for the additional pic.

and ive heard the ipod interface will be vastly improved over previous year models.

I would get the 9853, but it only has a 2v preout. and i might as well go ahead and get the top of the line, cause i probably wont be upgrading my head unit anytime soon (the one i have now is a pioneer deh-7400 that i got around 3 years back.)

One thing you need to notice is the lack of V-drive. to me its a good thing, less expensive decks

Alpine is great, But Eclipse is on another level. With many eclipse models', you will need an outboard amp.

Just got an Eclipse CD8454 the other day, it has an internal amplifer which sounds awesome. But an external amp is the way to go with any head unit.
