new 200 drive not showing up totally?

windows side bar says 187, and i thought i did the registry fix right though

but the details of the drive says the 200, so im not too sure

any help??

This is a pretty common source of confusion.

Drive manufacturers count 1 Gigabyte as one billion (1,000,000,000) bytes.
Windows counts 1 Megabyte as one thousand twenty-four Kilobytes (one KB=1024 bytes) and a Gigabyte as 1024 Megabytes (so 1,073,741,824 bytes for one GB).

Therefore, a drive manufacturer will report that a drive that holds 200,000,000,000 bytes as 200 GB, and Windows will report that same drive as 186.26 GB (rounded up to 187 GB).

Also Windows uses some space just for storing the directory. Bottom line, you NEVER get to see ALL the space that a drive is rated for. Your numbers are just about right.
