'new 1985 z28 found'

Meh, I'm more interested in the car that was in front of it in the trailer. It looked like a blue Firebird from the early 70s by the rear lights.

155hp with the manual, 215hp with the automatic? LOLZ

Those were the best looking Camaros ever IMO, but the horsepower back then was pitiful--- and from such big engines.

such big engines? 305ci is not that big.... plus that is one of the first implementations of multiport fuel injection. I thought the iroc cars had TPI? or was it an option? I had an 85 trans am TPI car, it was pretty quick.

damn you i just spent 45 minutes reading ls1tech and thirdgen.org when i should be asleep

5L is pretty big for only 155 HP. sub 2L N/A 4 cyls make more than that these days with 5L V8s making over 400-500 HP. The 70s and 80s were horrible years for engines following the performance/emissions crash of the 70s and early FI systems.

exactly, the oft-maligned ka24de of the 240sx made about that much power only a few years later (and was utter crap in stock trim)

So how do you treat/start the engine of a car that hasn't been run in 25 years?

Change out all the fluids? I would think that the oil and any gas in the tank would atract water and cause rust to form.

Anyone notice the front bumper had a vertical crease? Also that engine bay didn't look too impressive for a brand new car...but it may have been dust.

I would think that after sitting that long without running anything rubber like hoses and belts would be disintegrated.

Wouldn't you need to spray the insides of the cylinders with oil so that they're pre lubricated?

Shame, really. Somebody would have enjoyed that back in the day. Now it's like finding an unwrapped Commodore 64.

What's with the gauges on the penultimate pic? Are they stuck or is it running? Calibration of the RPM seems weird.
