Basically says it all...got a new Seagate 160 8mg HD and my C: has 60 and my D: has 70... 130 total...where s the other 30? I know windows will keep some for itself, but isnt that the 8mgs of space when you format? I dont want to lose 30 gigs..

you should check if BIOS reads it as 160 gigs. if not, you need to update your bios or use a controller card.

if bios reads 160 but windows doesn't, you'll need to go to the manufacter's website and grab a program to enable the rest of the drive.

And I think you need SP1.

you can enable it without SP1 for XP/

Ok, there were just a lot of threads like this where people were saying you need sp1 to see drives over 137GB or so.

If you don't have SP1, you need to change something in the registry.
