My bro installed a new 160GB hard drive in his system. During partitioning (using the WinXP CD), it only shows as 130GB. What's up?

He has an Asus A7V133 (VIA KT133a).

EDIT: Using NTFS

WinXP cannot recognise more than 130 GB unless you have service pack 1. Install SP1 and the remainder of the drive should appear.

To install a drive over 137GB...

1. Format it using NTFS, FAT cannot work with so large a disk.
2. Install WindowsXP SP1.
3. Make sure your BIOS supports over 137GB drives.

Cheerio!

He's using WinXP, but I'm not sure the dufus has installed SP1 yet. I'll check. Thanks for the suggestions, folks!

BTW, Asus' website support sucks. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops just to find his mobo on there.
