Anyone have any thoughts on this? It's a pretty cool concept that's actually making it to market. Great idea if your a student needing to lug a laptop around and want to game back at the dorms after classes. Anyone know if the external XGP is upgradable? Maybe stick a 4870 into it in the future?

you know as i was installing a verizon card in a lenovo x300 i thought they should just use usb 3.0 or externalize the mini pci express port so you could do just that.

then your machine would not overheat.

but do you think that is a better solution than sony/apple built-in-gpu with additional on-demand GPU?

those usb 2.0 devices like belkin makes to add another screen (ie dual monitors + laptop screen) are not terribly stable and usb 2.0 eats cpu like no other (non dma)

from what i understand it works with one and only one model. so basically are forced to buy both if you want to use it
