My brother has a Mac Pro listed in the title and I was wanting for him, my oldest brother and I to play the game together on co-op. I know this game requires a good video card to run well so I was wondering if it would even be worth it for him to buy to play with us?

Also, this is a long stretch, but would anyone want to sell us your CD key to play co-op mode?

I doubt it. I got it to limp along decently on a 6600GT, but that was pushing it, and it had twice as many pixel pipes and ROPs as that 7300.

You could probably make it happen, but don't expect it to be pretty. NWN2 can bring even my 8800GT to a crawl when maxed out.

The Mac system requirements list the 7300 at the minimum.

"Mac OS X 10.4.10, 1.83 GHz Intel Chipset, 1 GB Ram, 6.5 GB Hard Drive Space, Radeon X1600, GeForce 7300"

I think you'd be pushing it, but it'd probably run with everything turned off and at a low resolution. It'd definitely look sad though. Your CPU power is plenty though. Thats one of the things I dislike about the Macs, they've all got weak video cards in them.

i dont know if theres a difference between gpus on macs and pcs, but my 6800gt ran it just fine, so i think yours would too.

...And what? A 6800GT is significantly faster than a 7300GT. Like, way faster.

NWN2 is one of the worst optimized games I've ever seen. Certainly the graphics should not bring a 8800GTX to it's knees... yet it happens. Also it has no dual-core support, right?

That said, I used to play it with a 7600GT XXX with an insane overclock and it was extremely tricky to get going nicely. Sometimes it would crawl in unexpected parts for literally no reason.

I guess you could do it with a 7300GT in 1024x768.

Yeah, the optimization is horrid. It looks worse than many games on the market which run far better.

Yeah, that's the worst part when explaining graphics cards (nvidia) to non-computer people. I gave my friend my old computer with a 6800Ultra in it and he said he could get a 7300GT cheaply and wondered if he should. It took awhile to explain to him that in no way should he make that swap, the 6800U is an older card but it's quite a bit faster than the 7300GT.
