We are inventors, entrepreneurs, engineers, investors, researchers, and business leaders working in the technology sector. We are proud that American innovation is the envy of the world, a source of widely-shared prosperity, and a hallmark of our global leadership. We believe in an inclusive country that fosters opportunity, creativity and a level playing field. Donald Trump does not. He campaigns on anger, bigotry, fear of new ideas and new people, and a fundamental belief that America is weak and in decline. We have listened to Donald Trump over the past year and we have concluded: Trump would be a disaster for innovation. His vision stands against the open exchange of ideas, free movement of people, and productive engagement with the outside world that is critical to our economy — and that provide the foundation for innovation and growth.

Let’s start with the human talent that drives innovation forward. We believe that America’s diversity is our strength. Great ideas come from all parts of society, and we should champion that broad-based creative potential. We also believe that progressive immigration policies help us attract and retain some of the brightest minds on earth — scientists, entrepreneurs, and creators. In fact, 40% of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children. Donald Trump, meanwhile, traffics in ethnic and racial stereotypes, repeatedly insults women, and is openly hostile to immigration. He has promised a wall, mass deportations, and profiling.

We also believe in the free and open exchange of ideas, including over the Internet, as a seed from which innovation springs. Donald Trump proposes “shutting down” parts of the Internet as a security strategy — demonstrating both poor judgment and ignorance about how technology works. His penchant to censor extends to revoking press credentials and threatening to punish media platforms that criticize him.

Finally, we believe that government plays an important role in the technology economy by investing in infrastructure, education and scientific research. Donald Trump articulates few policies beyond erratic and contradictory pronouncements. His reckless disregard for our legal and political institutions threatens to upend what attracts companies to start and scale in America. He risks distorting markets, reducing exports, and slowing job creation.

We stand against Donald Trump’s divisive candidacy and want a candidate who embraces the ideals that built America’s technology industry: freedom of expression, openness to newcomers, equality of opportunity , public investments in research and infrastructure, and respect for the rule of law. We embrace an optimistic vision for a more inclusive country, where American innovation continues to fuel opportunity, prosperity and leadership.

Silicon Valley has traditionally not been big into political donations, so other than rhetoric I'm curious as to what the effect of this will be.

Maybe the rich and powerful hating somebody is motivational for the working class. If you're an enemy of Wall Street maybe you're a friend of mine.

You guys need to figure out your positions.

1.) You do know silicon valley is not Wall Street tight?
2.) The candidate you support is a BILLIONAIRE, he is the rich and powerful.

If Trump (or any conservative) would really be "for the middle class" and for the poor, they wouldn't require cheap demagoguery and fear-mongering, they could stick to actual ISSUES and propose solutions, rather than using fake irrelevant emotional topics to create fake "pseudo bonds" with their highly manipulated voting base.

As if it's not hideous enough to picture, OF ALL PEOPLE, Donald Trump as a person being supposedly "against the rich and powerful". LOLMAO level 9000

The last sentence is the only undeniably truthful thing you said and will come true no matter whether Trump or Clinton wins.

Cheap demagoguery and fear mongering like climate change and Republicans want to steal your Medicare and push you off a cliff?

Silicon Valley is going to put a lot of blue collar Republicans out of work in not too distant future. Then we'll hear no end of whining from them about how free markets are rigged.

Smarter computers will make ever more mechanistic desk jobs obsolete. I recall there was a study which showed those jobs tend to skew red with creative careers the other way.

Regardless, this isn't a situation where factual reality matters. It's become a class issue where plebs don't trust in experts because they simply don't know any, and ones they're aware of are on the other side of some identity line.

The centrist path that the D party's taken might've got some swing votes in the short term, but corp/neoliberal identity's pushed them away from the lower classes where the left has traditional had support.

Well, it represents the first time that the Rev. Jesse Jackson has ever been included in the Tech Industry, Silicon Valley, or Entrepreneurs.

"The disillusioned poor white voter is gonna be hella pissed after this election."

They were PO'ed too right after the Civil War when the slaves were freed and that rightly put them at the bottom rung. Nothing new here. Instead of working smarter to compete they just want to keep drinking their cheap domestic beer and staying pissed as the world around them changes.

I never saw the reasoning behind anyone caring what a celeb or some person that you dont know thinks about the presidential candidate.

What is your evidence for the Clintons being billionaires?
I dont know if they are billionaires but they definitely arent hurting for money and when the FBI leaves you alone for crimes against the country, that goes without saying, you are VERY VERY powerful!
