I wonder what took them so long to think about this idea. It's a little to late to add them to drive this series into the ground, but good for them.

Neversoft didn't create Guitar Hero and didn't do the those 2 Tony Hawk games so I wouldn't equate them with overpriced plastic peripherals.

In the spirit of Neversoft's past efforts, reloading will now take place by tossing your gun into the air, pulling out an American flag and some sparklers, kicking a new clip into the weapon mid-backflip, and chambering a round through the tasteful use of jazz hands.

I'm surprised that we got this far in without one of the fanboys coming in and talking about how each "new" installment is such a huge leap from the previous games and how it isn't like Madden because they come up with a whole new story that lasts a whole 5 hours, even if they are some poor stories. Nevermind the fact that they get two years to work on the titles.

Somewhere, pontifex just locked and loaded, and is coming for you in your sleep.

They're definitely doubling...more like tripling down on this franchise. Its almost as if activision is slowly morphing into a nothing but cod publisher. Nothing else but skylanders has really been successful for them recently, other than the blizzard stuff. And blizzard is known for thriving on a small amount of super popular franchises, so that might be the model they're aiming at. They're not big on the social stuff like EA, nor are they trying to create a steam competitor. They seem to be distilling down to the very few things that work for them and jettisoning everything else.

Who knows where this leads. If I had to guess, just massive amounts of content for each game, subscription services, e-sports, metagame content, etc. They want cod to be a genre and/or a sport onto itself, transcend the definition of a traditional packaged game into an ongoing service. Now they've got 5 studios working on cod - IW, Sledgehammer, trey arch, raven and neversoft. Any more than one packaged game a year seems ridiculous to me, but each game can support a pretty huge amount of content.

CoD is dead to me now anyway. They should start making WWII shooters again to try and save it. Anything would be better then rehashing the same old tired formula.

Actually, they might as well quit making games because they will end up ruining that too.

Geez... some of us may actually lose weight playing this game

Ew... no. The WWII shooter was overplayed far more than anything else I've witnessed. I won't be ready for another one for another decade or so still.

I'm surprised we got this far without one of the haters coming in and telling us all again how they don't like COD.
