There seems to be some supporting links in the comments.

As usual, you guys decide. If true, seems quite odd.

Perhaps not true - so take with grain of salt. As pointed out below.

That is just absurd! All empirical evidence points to the Earth being at least 6.4 B years old.

Why do Creationist, who apparently are out to search for the ultimate Truth, ignore all evidence and point to the Genesis story as "proof". Even St. Augustine adamantly implored the Christians of his time to not overanalyze the Genesis story, but ultimately see it as a depiction of our relationship with G-d, and the "Fall". Chalk this whole Creationist movement to the division of the atheist and the fundies. Both have agendas when they are perceiving something, and that is not a way to figure out what is True.

it's 4.6 billion years old, not 6.4.

Read the "news release" again. I like how the first line talks about how park rangers aren't allowed to say the age of the grand canyon and blames it on the Bush administration and the entire rest of the release is about a book that is being sold. There's no reference to actual orders that were given. There are no quotes from anyone not within this organization (PEER). This is the kind of stuff that the internet is famous for: taking BS and running with it...

I can't even bring myself to read through entire articles like this because they usually tend to reek of crap from the first sentence or two.
