Demo and full game available on Steam or at:

http://www.everybody-dies.com

I played the demo last night and I'll pick up the full version when I get home today.

It's "Global Thermonuclear War" straight out of the movie "Wargames".

Darwinia rocked too if you haven't played that.

Excellent game - only got the demo (for now ) but it's awesome watching 3vs3 games.

Played Europe ( me ) vs. Russia ( AI ), and left eastern Russia a glass parking lot with millions dead and only 0.5 million left alive!

LET THE NUKES FLY!

As was your post.

Either:
1) Download the demo so you can then really say it's boring.
2) Stop thread crapping.

I'm still working out the strategies.
Getting good recon before defcon 1 is very essential and very difficult.

I've been leaning more towards a first-strike strategy but I might try something different tonight. It's always nice to get 10 nukes hit your already empty silo :p To first strike you have to have that strong recon and your air power pays dearly trying to get that info.

Chasing all over looking for subs just occupies too much sea-power. Maybe just having some ships near the coast on hot-standby to jump on them when they launch is the key. A single ICBM from a sub isn't much threat if you can stop the rest of the volley.

I'm also thinking maybe first-striking with subs isn't the key either...maybe just park them, wait for the land based ICBMs to launch (and reveal themselves) then pop them from short range with the subs while their defenses are down.

easy to learn, difficult to master is about all I've figured out so far.

You have expressed your opinion and been thanked for it. You're just crapping this thread for purposes of an argument. Sorry you don't like the game. What else can you contribute to this thread? You're just harrassing now.

explaining 'why' you don't like a game is not thread crapping

you Do like it . . . but you shouldn't look at a 'negative' post as a thread crap . . . consider it a bump . . . without negative comments your thread would probably fall into Oblivion . . .

Darwinia is also a game for "some" gamers . . . i hated the retro 80 arcade look and will give it away . . . you loved it. Awesome
;)

'bump' and personal opinion/ over. :)

I quite liked darwinia - the look was the best thing IMO. The worst thing was the simplicity of the gameplay - it just seemed to get repetitive after a while.

This looks fun to play for a while but I can't imagine actually buying it... it looks like I could write it in the time it would take to go to the shop and pick it up... I'll give the demo a go though.

*sigh*

Negative comments I don't mind at all. I digged Darwinia for instance but I know it's just not everyone's cup of tea. What I don't like is when someone comes in a bitches about something they never even bothered to download (and then later bitches when they didn't play it long enough to even finish the tutorials and know how it works).

But I agree, saying you don't like a game is certainly not thread crapping.

However...take a good look at this thread now. go on, scroll up and down a bit.

It's got crap all over it with no worthwhile discussion at all. Makes me sad :(

Well to be honest, your first post was thread crapping to me... since you immediately downed the game w/out even trying it. But since you really gave it a try you can express your opinion, no problems there. I just find it funny that if a game doesn't have gorgeous graphics it can't be good, but w/e not everybody's cup of tea. I think it looks fun and I'll be trying it out shortly.

i never once said that a game ahs to have gorgeous graphics to be good. i've probably said the opposite in other threads. i prefer gameplay over graphics any day.

i don't see how giving an opinion is thread crapping. if i said the game WAS boring without playing it, then it would be crapping. but i said it LOOKS BORING, based on what the game looked like in screenshots. so i downloaded it and tried. my 1st comment was proven true. it was boring. watching lines go across the screen is not fun to me. i like games where there's more interaction.

i read thru the entire thread . . . i am INTERESTED in 'your' game.

My 'problem' is that i am stuck on slow dialup . . . it is very difficult for me to even d/l a demo. . . . THEREFORE i really like OPINION before i start the d/l.

this "crapping" as you call it happens in almost every thread . . . read "my" q4 thread . . . still didn't stop it from being a worthwhile discussion.

i think you might be a little 'sensitive' ;)

Fantastic, now we even have games which help us commit Genocide against other nations. Gotta love the direction games are taking. :Disgusted;

This game isn't for everyone. It's not for the ADD crowd, or the 12 year olds, or the graphics whores. None of the games from this software house are. The game is all mood and atmosphere. You can slow it down to a 6 hour real life game and actually mimic the last hours of a nuclear war. The music sets the mood very well, the retro graphics look stylized and run on just about anything and the multiplayer has a lot of people addicted.

Frankly, I'd expect Defcon to be as well recieved here as Dwarf Fortress, or any other nitche game and the negative comments don't surprise me.

Generic concurrences towards both bullet points.
