Now I got the computers networked using my ethernet-USB adapter....how do I share the internet with my bro's laptop...I have MSN DSL with an external modem...

Solved:
I have one of the Belkin NICs (PCI) that everyone got in the Dell Deal. I installed my ISA Intel Ethernet 16 NIC and my computer wont evensee it, nothing in the hardware manager, nothing! I need to to hook my brothers laptop to the internet until my D-Link Wireless router comes in from this deal. Anyone know a remedy for this? I'm running WinXP Pro, and my spec are in the sig..

Thanks ahead of time!

It doesn't even detect that any card was installed?

You sure the card is good? (and plug & play)

It's not a PnP card....firgured that out from the Technical support forum...

I just used my USB-Ethernet adapter...

New question...how do you share the internet connection with WinXP...I have MSN DSL...

Probably by far the easiest way to share the internet is to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

To enable this, go to your Network connections folder, and go to the properties for the Internet connection, go to the Advanced tab, and check the box that says that you want to share connection, hit OK, and it will reconfigure your LAN connection to have IP address 192.168.0.1

If you then on the other machine give it an IP address in the 192.168.0.x (where x is any number from 2 to 254), a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, a Default Gateway of 192.168.0.1, and a DNS server of 192.168.0.1 then it should work fine 🙂

Where do I do this? Sorry, newbie to the ICS here...

Got it working! I had to allow my firewall to let my bro's computer (IP) access the internet through my cmputer....IT WORKS!!!
