Hello,
I just recently set up file sharing on my main computer. When using the client computer, The problem was: I could not browse beyond the first level of directories, or root, nor could I open any files from the drive. I would always get an "Access Denied" error. This exact symptom also showed up on the host computer, so I turned off file sharing, assuming it caused the problem. The problem persists, though, even after a reboot. It should also be noted that the other drive in the main computer can be accessed just fine. Both drives are SATA, if that matters.
I was using the recommended simple file sharing. Not sure what to try next. Any ideas?
UPDATE: Problem is fixed. Apparently the ownership got fubared somehow (probably because it is Windows, rite, rite? 😛)
So I turned off simple file sharing and took ownership of the affected drive. It worked fine after that.
