This is just scary but I live not but a half block from this building and was talking to one of my friends online while looking at the webcam page they had posted on the company website. As I was talking to him I heard this screaming sound of metal in the background, a curse from him then the phone went dead. The link below is the last image from the website before it went offline. Scary stuff! I managed to save the last pic before the website went down. Here it is below in this link.

Last pic from local webcam.

Dude, I hope he's alright. :(

=================================
Edit: Ok, my friend is fine. Nothing actually happened to him. Let me explain.

First off, while I was talking to my friend I heard the sound of screaming metal, a curse and the phone going dead. Explaination: He is somewhat of a klutz and the screaming metal was his phone being dragged across his desk as he got tangled up in some of the wiring around his desk. This unpluged the phone, hence the dead phone. The image comes from a picture of one of the server rooms in the company where they're installing a super heavy UPS system. Rumors in the company where that this might cause the floor to collapse, although that's apparently unwarrented. (dumb uninformed internal rumors. I'm sure you're all familiar with these) Well just about the time my buddy tripped and sent his phone flying one of the techs in the other room slipped and ripped down a whole bunch of cabling and part of the ceiling. Hence the twisted metal and concrete look in the picture. The website is actually still up, but the mess has yet to be cleaned up, so the camera still shows the same picture. So it still looks like collapsed building, but it's actually not. Just ceiling tiles and wiring. The most my friend got was a bump on his head where he impacted the floor. The crash my neighbor heard turns out to have been a drunk who convinently decided to wrap himself around a street light about the same time.

I guess I let my imagination get the better of me in this situation. But putting all those things together at the same time, what would you have been thinking? Probubly the same exact thing. Well, I've now got egg on my face for this. :( Sorry for the panic folks. My bad.

He's in Lansing, and the building, I can't speak for it right now, but my neighbors said they heard a huge crash and there are like fire trucks and all kinda stuff going down the streets right now. I don't know much more than that at the moment.

I'll try to post more as I find out.

Edit: I'm gonna drive over and see what things look like. BRB as soon as I can.

If you only live half a block from it, go down there and see if you can help people out.

First, I hope your friend is OK. After that, if nobody else has that webcam shot, you may be able to get some money for it from the local TV outlets.

It doesn't have to be a greed thing. If your friend made it, but he's hurt, the money could really help him out.

I hope your buddy is ok, but I disagree with the above statement unless you are a trained rescuer and then ask if they need help. Anything else and you are a greater danger to yourself and others that will have to help you.

By "you" I mean anyone who would rush into a dangerous situation after thinking about it and not being trained for it.
