I've been working on a charity website for a while. It started as a small project, but over time, I slowly began to add things to the site - small flash intro, etc. - and finally, a few weeks later, I'm finally done. Thanks a ton to all of you who have helped out! The site:

www.hikefordiabetes.org

Please tell me what you think, if you haven't already. If you've already offered me advice, and are sick of me asking for advice, then go away. :) j/k, of course. I've basically begun devoting my life to this (as school and work are no longer challenging) and am finding that this is possibly the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life. I hope to do it again soon.

Anyway, if you're interested in reading about it, check out the site. I would also very much appreciate anybody who would link to the site - here's a few banners.

Thanks a ton to all of you who helped me decide what design to go with. This has been a lot of work, and has definitely been worth it. For those of you that have helped, I'll make sure to add your names to my thanks list (which, no doubt, will be huge by the time this thing goes down).

For my final plea:

One in seventeen people (16 Million People in America ALONE) is a diabetic. If you know someone who has diabetes, please pass the word of this site along to them. I am not only interested in getting donations to contribute to the hike and the American Diabetes Association, but am predominantly interested in passing the word: that diabetics do not have to let their disease control their life.

thanks for listening,

Thanks for your effort! I'll pass this to a friend of mine, who is a diabetic.

BTW, the intro is great. As for the homepage, it looks great in IE but not in Netscape. I'll get you a screen shot.

checked the source code....it's all in layers! eeeeek. That means it will be ugly in any netscape or any IE below 4.0.

You really need to convert to tables.

lemme see what I can do by bringing it into dreamweaver

Nice work, looks great in IE like they said. I've got a couple friends who I'm forwarding this to.

Yeah, I found that layers were more accurate for what I was trying to do. Let's see if I can fix it... (hoping).

Contains layers that are partially off-screen? What's that mean?

Bleh. I thought this was working well, too. :|

there is a bunch of overlapping and nested layers so dreamweaver can't convert to tables. Layers are useful for designing a site but should never really be used for the site. Should be converted to tables. Not sure if GoLive does this, but Dreamweaver will...provided none of it is overlapping.

basically yeah :( would probably be easier to redesign then it would to fix that one up.

Yeah, tables are the only way to go in Dreamweaver... 1 or 2 layers is alright for a site, but not the whole thing, it is probably a disaster in netscape...
