Nevermind. Axion had it listed as hardware and winmodem. Morons.

I prefer ISA modems. I've never owned the CL modem blaster, but I am ordering 2 for 2 systems I need to build. I have had no problems ever with any creative labs hardware.

It's a winmodem. I had these before and they suck big time with games. Try Diamond supra express or US robotics.

I'm using this one (it's PCI version thou). Connection speed is solid. Besides, ISA won't give you headache when comes to IRQ conflict. I think there is no difference in performance drop between ISA and PCI.

EMAN, what model are you using?

I've 5630-4 and I don't think it is winmodem.

I have both the ISA and PCI one of these. They both say "Flash 56" but they can do V.90. The PCI one connects ALOT faster for me and more reliably too....
As far as conflicts... the PCI one conflicts with both my video and sound card...all sharing one IRQ. :( Hence, why I'm not using it right now. Just a little FYI. :)

Eman. It's not a winmodem. It's a hardware modem.

Both according to Axion. What idiots. They had my hopes up.

dragonlord2112 - "connects faster", are we talking "time to connect" or connection speed. If it's the latter, how much "slower" was the ISA version over the PCI version?

I would say the $26.95 modem IS A WINMODEM. The $53.95 modem is not a winmodem. there are isa winmodems available with jumpers. I should know I used a POS isa winmodem for several years. If in doubt call.

IF anyone here is running this modem in linux or real dos let me know, I'll happily buy one.

It was the connection speed.
The ISA one connected at 28-36k.
The PCI one connects at 42-49k. It runs nicely with the internet connection sharing thingie.

Ive got a modem blaster something or other, I thinks its a ISA winmodem but its better speedwise than the USR premo voicemodem I've got. So I would say go for it...

Can you guys not read? Its listed under Axion's HARDWARE MODEMS. If it is not a hardware modem then Axion is falsely advertising, so its NOT bohemians fault. I doubt Axion is so dumb that they would list a winmodem under hardware modems

I just purchased a modem blaster flash 56 II model # DI5601, to install in a P90(yep, you read right)! Works great, so it is most definitly a hardware modem, as you need usually min 133 to run winmodem. The box says "controller-based modem", also the pic on the website looks identical to the modem I have (not that it is right all the time). If it is the same modem it connects at a faster rate then ANY wincrapmodem I have tried in my other comp. Not sure if it works in Linux, haven't tried yet!

Sometimes trying to find a hardware modem can be like pulling teeth. If this were a hardware modem it is a great deal. I didn't mean to jump on bohemian, I just didn't want anyone to get burned.
