Next week we get the expected AFI pack and something completely out of the blue, Walk Like an Egyptian by The Bangles. Now that takes me back to high school, I'm definitely getting it! :)

EDIT: There are rumors about New Fang by Them Crooked Vultures also coming out on Tuesday, but it's not in the official Harmonix announcements, so we'll have to wait and see. I wouldn't have believed it before the completely unannounced SongeBob tracks that came out this week.

Hey gang,

Here's the DLC coming your way next week. There's another 5 tracks coming from modern punk luminaries AFI and quite possibly the greatest pop song ever written about Egyptians. Check it out!

Well, that didn't take long, the Them Crooked Vultures rumor is now confirmed. This track is a bit delayed for Wii and PS3 though.

Cambridge, Mass. – Nov. 13, 2009 - Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that Them Crooked Vultures are premiering on Rock Band beginning next week with “New Fang,” the single from the band’s self-titled debut album. The song will be added to the Rock Band Music Store and LEGO Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.

“Them Crooked Vultures are keenly aware of the different ways in which modern music fans digest new music and are therefore especially happy to be able to offer the first single from their self-titled debut up as a downloadable Rock Band game track on the same day the album goes on sale,” stated Them Crooked Vultures.

The debut self-titled album from Them Crooked Vultures, which is composed of Dave Grohl, Joshua Homme and John Paul Jones, will be released Nov. 17 in the United States, the same day and date that “New Fang” will be available for Rock Band download on the Xbox 360. The band released the single as a free download for fans Nov. 3 and has been streaming their full album on their website, www.themcrookedvultures.com, since Nov. 9. The band is touring the United States in November, and their December tour of the United Kingdom sold out in just 12 minutes.

Them Crooked Vultures’ “New Fang” will be available Nov. 17 for the Xbox 360, Nov. 24 for the Wii and Dec. 3 for the PlayStation 3 in both the Rock Band Music Store and LEGO Rock Band Music Store.

Price:
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per track

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

OK, it seems that an advertisement on VH1 has spilled the beans on a Tom Petty 6-pack coming next week. There was an ad during a Tom Petty concert reading:

"Download & play 6 songs from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' The Live Anthology on the XBOX Live Marketplace, PlayStation Store, and Wii Shop Channel. Available November 24th!"

I'm pretty happy with the 3 Tom Petty tracks we already have, but there may be a few more good tunes in here.

We get the expected Tom Petty 6-pack and 3 surprise pop singles this week. I'm pretty happy, I might even buy the whole week but I need to listen to a few of the TP songs I'm not familiar with. Sorry, I don't have time to do the YouTube links this morning, I may get them later.

Hey gang,

It is my distinct pleasure to bring you next week's RB DLC announcement. We've got an amazing pack of 6 live tracks from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (a personal favorite) featured in the group's latest release, The Live Anthology. In addition to that, we've got three more female fronted bands in Kelly Clarkson, P!nk and The Go-Go's that will hit the spot for any vocalist with a soft spot for fun pop music, regardless of gender. Check it out!

-HMXhenry

Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Nov. 24) and PlayStation 3 system (Nov. 26, but we're double checking this date to see if it's affected by the Thursday holiday):

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “A Thing About You (live)” +
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “American Girl (live)”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Even the Losers (live)”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Here Comes My Girl (live)” +
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Mary Jane’s Last Dance (live)”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Refugee (live)” +
Kelly Clarkson – “Miss Independent” +
P!nk – “Who Knew” +
The Go-Go’s – “Our Lips Are Sealed” +

(All tracks are original master recordings)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live Anthology Pack 01” as well as individual tracks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks on Wii. Tracks marked with a “+” are also available in the family-friendly LEGO Rock Band Music Store.

We've got an early announcement due to Turkey Day! I think this week is going to make a lot of people happy.

Hey gang,

We're only releasing bands that start with the letter N this week, so that gives you Nirvana and Night Ranger, with a 3 pack from each group! Hopefully the Night Ranger makes some of the rabid hair band fans happy, and I'm pretty sure I've seen one or two people on the forums asking about these Nirvana songs. Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Dec. 1) and PlayStation 3 system (Dec. 3):

Nirvana – “Come As You Are (Live from MTV Unplugged)” +
Nirvana – “Lithium (Live at Reading)”
Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
Night Ranger – “(You Can Still) Rock in America” +
Night Ranger – “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” +
Night Ranger – “You’re Gonna Hear It From Me” +

(All tracks are original master recordings)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “Night Ranger Pack 01” or “Nirvana Pack 02” as well as individual tracks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks on Wii. Tracks marked with a “+” are also available in the family-friendly LEGO Rock Band Music Store.

Price:
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track

$5.49, £3.99 UK, €2.49 EU (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Night Ranger Pack 01” or “Nirvana Pack 02”

$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per track

Tom Petty = win

Live = lame

I've been listening to these now that videos are available and I've got to say I'm very impressed. They all sound fantastic with the exception of Mary Jane's Last Dance, which is kind of off. I was on the fence about buying this whole pack but I probably will now that I've heard the recordings.

Flight of the Conchords is a pretty hilarious show, I like pretty much all the songs they have on there too. I hope to see more smaller bands put their stuff on via RBN, even when they put music on here from bands I like it tends to be their most mainstream songs which usually aren't my favorite.

I'm a little late to the party here, but if they released the whole album I'd buy it immediately. That whole album is brilliant.

Edit: On a side note, anybody know how Rock Band treats DLC when playing multiplayer, and one of the accounts is set up with family settings? I started a new tour with my 10 year old the other day and choosing the songs from venues that I knew, and wouldn't you know it as soon as I try a mystery set list, the first song that comes up is Sir Psycho Sexy. Even with half the lyrics chopped out, I still don't want her listening to that just yet. :p

I know Lego Rock Band is based around family friendly songs, but does RB1/2 respect the youngest profile currently playing? I've looked around and everything seems to revolve around not being able to download due to ratings. I want to be able to download anything I want, but exclude some things from coming up when certain profiles are playing the game.

Argh, I knew they were holding on to the good Nirvana songs from Nevermind for later. I wasn't very happy to see these tracks missing from the original pack.

I really don't understand what possessed them to release 2 Nirvana 3-packs one month apart. I think the songs in the November pack would have sold better if they were combined into a 6-pack with the more popular songs coming out next week.

EDIT: Actually, I think I may understand this now. Bleach and Nevermind were released by two different labels, so it's entirely possible that chunks of the revenue from these packs have to go two different places, which would force them to be released separately.

Wow, surprise double announcement today. Next week there is metal (Slipknot), Simon & Garfunkel and a free track from Lights Resolve (though Wii doesn't get the free song for some reason). Then, they have preannounced another Green Day pack for 12/15. I wish they would have released some older Green Day though, I really want Holiday. As far as we know there will still be additional songs released on 12/15 that have not yet been announced.

Hey gang,

Potentially dethroning the Jimmy Buffett / Distrurbed week as the most diverse pairing of DLC so far, I present to you the following Rock Band downloadable content for next week. Enjoy!

-HMXhenry

Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Dec. 8) and PlayStation 3 system (Dec. 10):

• Slipknot – “Duality”
• Slipknot – “Psychosocial”
• Slipknot – “Sulfur”
• Simon & Garfunkel – “I Am a Rock” +
• Simon & Garfunkel – “The Sounds of Silence” +
• Lights Resolve – “Dreaming of Love” * + (available on Xbox 360 and PS3 only)

(All tracks are original master recordings)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “Slipknot Pack 01” as well as individual tracks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks on Wii. Tracks marked with a “+” are also available in the family-friendly LEGO® Rock Band Music Store.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track
$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Slipknot Pack 01”
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per track
“*” Denotes a free track

Keep in mind this is NOT part of the 12/8 DLC, but rather a sneak preview of the 12/15 DLC. Plan accordingly!

The pre-announced Green Day plus a few other tracks. I'm not familiar with 30 Seconds to Mars but I like what I've heard so far, I may pick those tracks up. I like AAR but Gives You Hell is not one of my favorites.

• 30 Seconds to Mars – “Kings & Queens”
• 30 Seconds to Mars – “This is War”
• All-American Rejects – “Gives You Hell”

I liked the 1st two 30 sec to mars songs they put on RB, and they actually made me pick up the cd (used of course). I'm glad I bought it for cheap because those two songs were their only good ones imo lol.

Strange choice for Adam's Song, why put a song about suicide in a supposed family game?

Since when is Rock Band a family game? That's what Lego RB is for, and Adam's Song didn't make it into that one. There are a lot racier songs than that in Rock Band (see "Sir Psycho Sexy" among others).

While I do like that song, it's questionable for Rock Band. Nearly the entire first minute is nothing but keyboards and vocals, so everyone on instruments will be twiddling their thumbs for a while, and the song isn't all that long.
