Never used a MAC question

i need to transfer some files via ftp that are sensitive (medical - hippa rules) to a person and the person runs a mac. the files are on a ftp server that runs ftp-ssl, not sftp. does the mac use a ftp-ssl compatible ftp program?

sorry for the vagueness of this question, it is all the information i have, i don't even know what version of the os they are running, but wasn't sure if the macs came w/ a ftp client like many of *nix distros do.

Cyberduck seems to be able to do SSL as well, its free, but not as fancy as Transmit

I love cyberduck, but you can also use the most famous of windows ftp programs, filezilla on mac.

Filezilla was a bit flaky for me when I used it about a year ago, almost as if it had a short queue for uploading as I would select a directory of images to upload, but it would stop and act as if it was finished only 1/3 of the way through. Haven't tried it since though.

The nice thing is that they all offer you a demo, so give them a shot and see which one you prefer.

I like Transmit, personally.. but I could probably get by with CyberDuck now that I've started playing with it a bit.

I have two gripes with Transmit, and they aren't really gripes as much as they are features I would like implemented in the future.

1) I want my color labels from Finder to be shown in Transmit.
2) I want the rename in Transmit to recognize the extension of the file, like how Finder does... so I don't have to worry about renaming around extensions, but rather just hit enter and type away.

Oh and there is another client called Fetch which is supposed to be really good as well.

A word of advice: cyberduck sucks when transferring large amounts over a fast network. Transferring across my 100 Mbit network at home with cyberduck yields 10 Mbit speeds. All other clients work well.
