Never thought I'd be doing this again...

Setting up Windows 95...on a 486SX! Big 120MB harddrive, 8MB RAM, had Windows 3.1 on there before.

WOW!

Memories....like the corners of my mind...

Isn't 95 limited to ~2gigs per partition, or was that 3.1??

If it is too much trouble, you can always give me the drive 😉

EDIT: LOL, just read that again, thought you said 120 gig... oops, this vicodin is not good

Why is that an issue on a 120MB drive?

<sigh>

Got enough space cleared on the drive to store the CABS and Win95 itself once installed (Scandisk found 99MB in recovered files! :Q ) and setup was going OK until I got to the OEM license screen...I've lost the original case and the drive I used to keep #s like that on was wiped some months ago (never thought I'd need 95 again).

grrr....Wonder how 98 would work..... :frown:

If all you need is a '95 serial key, I can give you mine... I would never ever want to use that thing again. The oldest I go back to is 98, and I've got SE also, so there really is no need for me to use 95. Therefore I don't see the problem in you using my 95 key. 😛 PM me if you need it.

lol.. I just spent this weekend throwing this system together outta old spare parts...

200 MMX
Biostar 8500TVX mobo
2 gig Seagate HDD
4mb Matrox Mystique Vid card
Ensoniq VIVO sound card
Some lame 36.6 ISA modem
Some generic CD-ROM

Just finished flashing the bios and putting Win98se on it.. gotta this stuff.

Whew! Screamin' demon, there!

Well, this thing's almost past the hardware detection phase (I think by now my dual AMD XP1800+ was finished setting up W2K Server!) 😀

heh...it's for my step-brother's dad. His g/f is legally blind and needs some voice software installed (JAWS for Windows).

why'd you go from 3.1 to 95? 3.1 was the best version of windows ever! (Windows for Workgroups 3.11 is THE best, more specifically)
