Never thought I would like grapefruit...

NetWareHead

THAT guy
I haven't had grapefruit since I was a kid. Always thought it was the bad tasting bitter member of the citrus family. Recently my gf had me try some and despite my objections, I decided to give it a shot. I was surprised...its not as bitter as I remember it. Actually its rather good, especially with some sugar sprinkled on top. But even without sugar, its still tasty.

I figure if I can drink bitter IPA beers (especially the extra hoppy ones) & espresso/turkish coffee with out sugar, then grapefruits shouldn't be too far out of my league. Now that I'm older and more health minded, grapefruits are loaded with good things for your body....so I'll continue eating them.

You're doing it wrong.
Open each "envelope" and eat the "meat" inside. Don't ear the shell dividers.

I wouldn`t touch that stuff now unless it cured cancer.Posted that pic just for his expression,i was also tortured with that abomination of a fruit when i was a kid.

Grapefruit enjoyment depends heavily on the quality of it. A friend of mine has a tree and those are freaking awesome. Sweet and tangy with thin skins. Best I've ever had.

I also like grapefruit juice...the kind with no sugar added though.

An unripe grapefruit is comprable eating a green pear.

Good grapefruit is extremely tasty. It's a bit on the sour / bitter side compared to oranges, but overall excellent.

Bad grapefruit is somewhat of a painful experience. They're edible with sugar or some other kind of sweetener, but overall not enjoyable.

Pro tip: All fruits and vegetables have seasons. Early spring isn't the season for grapefruit.

Grocery store chains have totally screwed the American consumer. "But we just stock what customers want!" Bull. Customers buy what's available. If they didn't sell green fruit, gassed tomatoes or, hydroponic vegetables, people might actually like food more.
