Guys...

I installed Win XP and I had to come back to 2K!

Never seen so repulsive thing as Windows XP interface !!

The Microsoft designers must have been drunk at the moment, cannot imagine any corporation adopting so stupid interface!!

Can you imagine at the login screen?..
Mr. President (bird icon)
Mr. Human Resources Manager (horse icon)
Mrs. Accountant Manager (bull icon)
Mrs. President (cow icon)
And who would be the pig?

Definitively, it can only be seen just a system thought for gamers, wannabe hackers an so on, convince me I am wrong!

Gustavo.-

There are options that allow you to make XP look like 2k. And you can also change the logon screen from the pictures to the old NT/2k method.

I turned off the welcome screen, as well as changing the theme. Its not as fisher-pricey as it was before, but its not quite win2k either. I like the look of it the way I have it set now. You can take a look at it here.

Right Click Your Desktop, choose Properties
Under the Themes Tab, select Windows Classic, and there you go, fine tune any other adjustments under the Appearance tab.

Edit: And please, don't jump to conclusions, or make assumptions, especially, that "gamer and wannabe hacker" comment. Do your research before you come in here bashing something that you seem to know little about.

The thing that most pisses me off about XP (and would make me consider going back to 2KPro, is that whenver some program is 'calculating' or doing some kind of work, it kinda locks up, but is still working, then Windows wants to kill it, right off the bat. It's not very intelligent, and I see it as a form of instability.

But the interface can definitely be a bit weird, I guess its supposed to be all cute and friendly...

Tharyn: I can customize any users desktop I noticed it, but can I avoid the initial login screen, when no user is logged in ?

Gustavo - Go to "Start>run" and type in "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes). Uncheck the box that says"users must enter a username and password to use this computer"., click "OK".

The style of the logon screen is (in XP pro at least) controlled by the environment the OS detects. In a workgroup/stand-alone environment, you get the Icon/Name pictures.
In a domain environment, you get a classic NT logon box.
This makes sense to me.

The welcome screen is terrible...its the first thing I turned off.
You can change it in the users and Groups applet in the control pannel. Just chose the option "Change how users log on to the system" or somthing like that, and uncheck both boxes. Tada!

Of course, then you can't use fast user switching anymore...but I didn't use that anyway :)
