I installed an old FIC PA-2010 w/ an old P166mmx. On this first bootup I get the message, "NTLDR is missingress any key to restart" midway thru the POST. Of course, after pressing any key it just repeats the message.

Does anybody know what NTLDR is?

It's probably got something to do with the error beeps I get. I get 1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps.

It's the bootloader from Windows NT. What's on the hard drive and have you fdisked and formatted it? What drive are you booting from?

Hmmm...the guy I bought the drive from must've had NT on it. Just format it and it'll take care of it?

One long beep followed by three short beeps is the code for video problem. Usually fixed by reseating card.

NTLDR?? Sorry.

Sounds like a dead NT/2000 installation to me. A format (and possibly an FDISK, to check whether the partitions are to your liking) will remedy it.

Format, or just get a Win9x boot disk and do a sys c: to fix the problem.

NTLDR is one of the boot files for Windows NT. Works kind of like how MSDOS.SYS and IO.SYS worked in DOS/Win9x.
