Hey, that is pretty neat. But I don't think anybody worries about remote control battery life anyway, since it's like barely a quid or two for a 4 pack of AA batteries, and remotes take 2, and they last for absolutely ages.

Batteries in my remotes seem to be good for at least 3-5 years. When they do die, I'll usually just pull some batteries out of something that goes through them rather more quickly, and buy replacements for that one.

I think first of all that the remote lasts about a week a "wind up." Secondly, I like to play with things, so I could easily see myself winding it while watching TV.
