Never offer to have a University class write software for your non profit organization.

I'm taking this class where we're working with a local non-profit group and writing some software for them. I can't beleive anyone would volunteer to participate in this project. It's like hiring a company that you KNOW will be out of business in 4 months to write software for you. As soon as the final exam is done, the class disperses and the customer is up sh!t creek without a paddle as far as support or upgrades are concerned.

But where else can you get free custom software? They are a non-profit organization, so they probably dont have much money to spend...

I guess it's better than paying good money to a company that will probably be out of business in 4 months....

It's this large database that's supposed to keep track of payroll, volunteer hours, people's medical records, stock of food, other things you probably would like to be reliable.

Unless you are trying to embezzle money from the NFP's coffers, in which case, dodgy accounting software could be the clutch save when your trial comes up.

i have the same sort of thing right now.. except we have to do everything in visual basic and it's for some kind of a bowling thing that has to do with sponsors and all that crap

people sign up to bowl... people get sponsors... we have to develop and implement a program for people that dont want a program to do this work for them
