I know advertised size and real size is confused, but I am wondering how big it should be around? My 27G is actually around 25G, but I didn't think a 40G would be detected this low.

LOL!!! I just noticed that I got a drive whose default jumper setting was with the 32G clip 🙂... my bad!

Really I am not that dumb 😛

Your 40 GIG drive shouldn't be anything less than 37, and even that is quite a jolt down. I mean, there's a lot you can do with 3 gig of missing space that you suspected you were paying for.

I would strongly suggest finding the phone number or website of the business of the hard drive and ask them and explain your problem to them. They might have a solution for you. I say this because if it's a problem with everyone who has the same drive then they'll have an answer right away and that's always a good way to find out!

Hmmm... maybe my problem isn't solved yet. How large of drives does the BX chipset support? I changed the jumper to the regular Master (which a Slave drive attached) and now it takes forever to auto-detect... yet it detected it at 32G just fine...

Stupid me again! This problem is fixed by the later Abit BX6 rev2 BIOS updates... Just FYI

Don't laugh at me too much! Really I have built over 20 computers! 😛
