I've had a pair of Square-Wire 2.0's for the past year or so...absolutely no complaints, even when I stepped on them! I just bent them back into shape, and they're fine!

You have got to be joking. You must be a fan of the Foakley's.

I don't wear any sunglasses, therefore, I wouldn't know the difference.

Lens quality, frame quality and craftsmanship. They are dam light compared to others.

I just had to RMA my Dragon Optical Rangers that I only use on the weekends for mountain biking. The paint job was actually coming off and on some parts of the frame the paint was curling . I haven't had them for even a year.

I treat my Oakleys a lot worse, leave them out in the sun and they get heavy use. The color isn't fading etc.

What's the point in buying expensive sunglasses ? My $15 pair of Fossils shade my eyes from the sun just fine for the beach and driving. It's not like it's an ugly style either. Honestly I want to know the benefits of spending over $100 on sunglasses.

Smart? We want to look cool, not smart. ;-) I'll get some large glasses with thick lenses if I want to look smart.

I've had two Oakleys for awhile (Why3 and C-wire) and my C-wire's lense got all scraped up. My Why3's are falling apart and I called to get a missing nose piece. They wanted $20+ for a piece of plastic. :disgust:

I hear you on that one. My 10$ fake whatevers do fine for me. If they get scratched, or crushed in my backpack, or pocket, or get lost or whatever, i just spend another 10$ for another one.

My e-wire works great! What exactly happened to your lenses? I had to send an old pair back to be repaired (frame was bent dramatically) and they sent it back in a week

The difference is that the former are for elitist pricks who think their image is improved by wasting lots of money on expensive sun glasses.

/wears $12 Target glasses that have served me well for almost a year

Oakley's look best when you're wearing them in your BMW 325i with your collar up. :p

Oakleys suck. They're for insecure morons who buy into the marketing hype. Yeah, you buy these $175 sunglasses and you'll be the envy of everyone. PT Barnum was right.
And by the way, nothing beats Vuarnet shades. Nothing.

Funny, one would have said the exact same thing about Vuarnet twenty years ago.

You're
really concerned about what people think of you, huh? How sad and pathetic. Why such a lack of self confidence? Talk to your therapist and blame it on your parents.

$5 sunglasses work well enough for me. My sunglasses have a tendancy to believe they can fly.

That's because they've been listening to too much R.Kelly music.

I've gone through many expensive/cheap sunglasses and the expensive/reputable sunglasses have better quality and much better lens quality.

Of course the expensive ones the retailer/maker make bank off of you but the quality is unmatched by all that generic/cheap crap out there.

I just bought a pair of Native Ripp XP sunglasses, and they're great. Lifetime warranty, no questions asked. They are great, lightweight glasses, too. I was going to get Oakleys, but they're too flashy - everyone just buys them for the name.

I've got a few pairs of nice prescription ones, Wouldn't have bought them, but had 2k in flex money to spend at the end of the year and blew it all on glasses. When I wear contacts though my 9.99 walmart pair works great and I don't worry about loosing scratching them:p I also had a pair of Bolle prescription ones, and the optics on those were horrible I don't know if they cut the lens bad, but everything just seemed "off".

I have a pair of A wires that are prescripted. Great quality. Also have a pair of Why 3's with clear lenses that are prescripted. They are great also.

The workmanship in the lenses is amazing.

The lenses are TOP QUALITY for plastic lense. They rank the highest in the tests that are carried out by an independent company. You can not argue with that no matter how you cut it.

Sure they are expensive. Some guys will spend it some guys won't. If it isn't worth it to you don't spend it. They are a 'luxory' item. Same thing for say bottles of wine that are $50-150+! They are definately not worth it to me as I pretty much don't drink. BUT they are well worth it to some people.
