I've always bought flowers from flower shops and whatnot... is there a highly rated valentine's day headquarters thing online? Haha, sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject

THANKS

For online flowers, proflowers.com is definitely tops. I've used FTD, Kabloom, and a few others but as far as quality and customer service are concerned, Proflowers is way ahead of the others.

FTD and Teleflora contract local florists to deliver flowers. FTD (they have both online and local offerings) has VERY spotty quality with local florists and I can't really recommend them. Teleflora is MUCH more expensive but they use superior florists.

Your best bet for V-Day, if it's not too late, is proflowers.

Another question, sorry for the dumbness.... how does their delivery work? Will they show up at the door and give the flowers to the recipient? Or is it packed in a fedex box? Haha, sorry if this offends anybody

And I quote the FAQ:

How are the flowers delivered?
In order to guarantee freshness of our products, we only ship via FedEx. All fresh-cut flower bouquets are shipped via FedEx Overnight. Some selections, like potted plants and wreaths, are shipped via FedEx 2Day. Wrapped in cellophane, our flowers are shipped in a specially designed gift box to ensure freshness during delivery. Flowers are arranged as shown in our descriptions. Also enclosed are your personal message, flower food and a letter outlining the best way for the recipient to care for the flower or plant. (A vase may be added for a surcharge to most of our arrangements during the ordering process.)

I've used 1800flowers.com in the past and never had any problems. Same with FTD. Got some good deals with 1800flowers.com as they used to have some pretty active coupon programs.

The final quality of the product is really just going to depend on the local florist who fulfills the order though (I'm sure proflowers.com is a great service, but having flowers arrive in a box kind of defeats the point IMO.) I imagine a lot of the online services use the same florists in certain areas. I can use the same service multiple times delivering to the same location (had this happen with both FTD and 1800flowers.com) and order pretty much the same thing but the final arrangement will vary dramatically depending upon who put it together. I've found that one local florist typically does the best job. In the future I might just contact them directly and see if they can give me the same quality for close to the FTD or 800flowers.com price.

If anyone is in the colorado springs area, Gentry's flowers does the most phenomenal job I have ever seen. Unfortunate that such great florists are so few and far between.
