I was really impressed to see such a selfless team play by a guy running down the field breaking tackles and has the presence of mind to fall down before the goal line, especially in such a huge game.

Cliffs for people who are clueless: RB gets a first down with about a minute left and is going for the score, but since they are already up a point or two falls to the ground before breaking the goal-line so that his team can take a knee and win the game simply without risky injuries or whatnot.

It wasn't to cover the spread. The bulldogs were favored by 15, and Nevada won by 3. He didn't want to take the very slim chance of the bulldogs getting the ball back, scoring a touchdown, getting an onside kick back and kicking a FG to tie or score another TD to win the game within 30 seconds. 😛
