ALAMO, Nev. - A minivan collided with an oncoming semi-truck along a rural highway in southeastern Nevada Saturday, killing the van's pregnant driver and five children, the Highway Patrol said.
The 26-year-old woman drifted off the road and lost control of the van just before 4 a.m. on U.S. Highway 93 about 35 miles south of Alamo, Trooper Kevin Honea said.
The truck driver, a 59-year-old male, attempted to swerve but crashed into the van nearly head on, Honea said. The truck driver was uninjured.
Five children in the car believed to be between the ages of 2 and 11 died in the collision. Honea said investigators had not confirmed whether they were related.
The sole survivor in the minivan was the driver's 50-year-old mother, authorities said.
