Hey guys, I posted a topic in regards to this in the Technical Help forum a couple of days ago.
The help that was provided was useful, so I thought, anyhow I've decided to re-post my topic with additional information, because although the problem was solved (so i thought) I am now once again cursing furiously at Windows XP Pro. I'll tell you why...
I am of course trying to network between two computers, a PC Workstation and a Laptop. As told by users on the forum, I need to have the same username and password for each account on each computer if using classic/simple file-sharing mode.
Well I followed this instruction and thankfully it worked! But only for a short period of time, which is why I am here again. Yes, it no longer works and I have no idea why Windows is randomly being a bitch to me.
I have run through the setup procedure as one normally would,
I have named them respectively PCBox-1 and LaptopBox-1,
I have added them to the same workgroup name: MSHOME (in this instance),
I have made sure that I am sharing the files/folders that I wan't to access on either computer...
If I try and access the _other_ computer from either the PC or Laptop I receive the following error.
\\LaptopBox-1 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this service to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found.
In light of the fact that now both computers share the same account information - why or better yet how can i rectify this problem that I tought had been solved the other day in the Technical Help Forum. ?
Any network gurus or intillectuals that could shed some light on this situation? I would greatly appreciate the help. I have done everything, so I think...
