Networking Woes :(

This network has caused me frustration. I am ready to smash it. Thoroughly. Anyway, If I plug my wireless router into the wired switch (where my lan comps are plugged in) should I be able to access my lan from the wireless connection? Because I can't seem to acces my lan from my laptop.

Which make/model router?

If its a WGR614 you need a firmware upgrade.

Better help in the GW (general hardware) forum!

Cheers,

Trey

1) log into wireless router and disable dhcp.
2) assign it a local address on the same subnet as your wired router.
3) connect it to your wired router with one of the LAN ports only. Never use the WAN port. You may need a crossover cable to do this.

Now the wireless is just another dumb switch daisychained to your wired router. It should work fine.

He's going to a switch. Not another router. I think he just needs a crossover cable.

OOPS!
If the current computers are on a switch only, did you assign them IP addresses? Are you using network connection sharing to share your internet access?

Yes the current computers are on a switch only, I did not assign them IPs as they are set to obtain them automatically which seems to work. My network access is simply shared automatically by the switch (modem is plugged into switch).
