Networking/Windows XP Pro SP1 question

Hi,

this is old question.. old version of XP Pro pre SP2 for friends pc.. yes I know if I could get him to upgrade to sp2, I think we could solve this, but.. just interested in if we can solve as is without update.. ok?

Under network connections, local area connection properties advanced where as top line is for firewall in windows xp sp2 and beyond, in xp sp1 there is second section that greys out a check box, with it checked to allow other users to control or disable the shared internet connection.

Any ideas on how to get ownership over this.. to get it to where it can be unchecked?

Thanks

anyone have any ideas on where i can find an answer.. I have continued googling with very little success... maybe better words to use.. some site that would be helpful, etc??

put a check mark in the non grey box and the next box will become available to uncheck, then remove the check in the other box.
