Networking Windows 2000 with Mac OS 8.1

Can anybody tell me how to get Windows 2000 to work with Mac OS 8.1 ? I have added the AppleTalk protocol in network adapter settings for Win 2000. The IP addresses and Subnet Mask settings are correct.
Thanks for the help.

What are you trying to connect them for? Trying to make them share files, or something else?

Don't bother installing the Appletalk protocol as 8.1 will do almost everything over TCP/IP and Win2k doesn't support appletalk for anything.

If you are trying to fileshare, then you will need to install a 3rd party program called DAVE which gives SMB (windows) file sharing capabilities to MacOS so you can mount shares on a windows box

I am trying to make the Macintosh print to the Windows printers. Although file sharing would be nice.

P.S.
Sorry for taking so long to respond I'm very busy usually.
