networking Win2K an Win98SE

This is my first use of Win2K, I installed Win2K on one of my comps, fresh install of full Win2K pro, and now the other 2 Win98Se machines on my home LAN can't see or share files with the 2K machine.

I ran thru the W2K network trouble shooter with no effect. I have changed so many diff settings now trying to get it to work I'm sure it's bad FUBAR now.

LAN is 3 comps hooked to SMC 7004br router sharing attbi cable internet connection, I can ping all the comps from any of the comps on the LAN, all comps connect to the WAN just fine. The router shows all 3 boxes in the DHCP client list.

what obvious setting did I leave out??? Link me to the idiots guide to networking 2K and 98SE please

Yes, I checked that page and the linked page on sharing with NT and W2K . I set up a shared drive on the W2K box, and I even built a Bubba share....
No go, I think I have changed something in W2K that I shouldn't have. After the install, I could see the W2K box in Network Neighborhood from my 98SE machines, but could not share. now I can't see it and it cant see the 98 machines. May I need to reinstall and just leave the W2K defaults.

All comps are in the same workgroup, all have names, the same ones they had before I installed W2K on one of them. I'm bad confused

yep, just found out that's what it was. I used NetBEUI as the default protocol on the LAN before, but I had disables it in W2K, I had changed this several time in addition to many other things on the 2K box.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Jack.
