hi all, in attemps to secure my lan from the outside world, i've installed netbeui for file sharing on my win2k /xp computers. I did unbind netbeui from microsoft client as well as unbind tcp/ip from file sharing (with each machine).
however after doing this, none of my computers can see each other, although they can ping just fine. what gives? was working when i left it alone with tcp/ip

thanks for anyhelp

**update
It seems, ONE computer has to have tcp/ip and netbeui binded to file sharing or else the computers can't see each other in the network. doens't this defeat the purpose of having netbeui ...damn.

You should have file and printer sharing and microsoft client bound to Netbeui, and not bound to TCP/IP.

Why bother using netbui with win2k anyway? Just lock it down with passwords and use a software firewall. Netbui is much better for securing 98 or 95 vs. 2k or XP. Just dont think you need to go thru that trouble when their are better ways of doing it.
