Networking two Windows 2000 Pro PCs

I have two PCs with Windows 2000 Pro and I'm trying to network them so I can share files and a printer. I'm using a router already to share the cable internet. I believe they are both in the "WORKGROUP" workgroup. So it shouldn't be much to connect them, right? Also, if it matters, I'm using Zone Alarm on both PCs. Thanks!

Nope, shouldn't be that difficult.

I take it you are using TCP/IP on both of them. Since you already have a cable internet router, I don't think you will need ZoneAlarm Pro.

Setup Client for Microsoft Networks, TCP/IP, and File and Printer Sharing.

Set your IP addresses up and you should be set to rock and roll. 🙂

Did this, check!

How do I do this?

Just try going to My Network Places then choose add a network place. Then enter in the name or IP for the other computer. example: \\computer2 or \\192.168.0.3

Notice I just picked an IP to use as I have no idea what your computer's LAN IP are. Sometimes this will help 2K machines find each other. Oh and zone alarm could mess it up if you do not have it set right.
