Networking two remote computers? VPN?

I don't have a ton of experience with this, but I've got a project to deal with. Two desktop computers, miles apart, need to be "networked" ... able to share files, printers, etc, just like a home network in a workgroup.

What's the easiest/cheapest way to accomplish this?

EDIT: Both have broadband connections to the Internet.

Get two VPN routers and setup an IPsec VPN between the two locations. I've had success with Linksys BEFSX41's, but I'm sure others can suggest more appropriate equipment if you give us a budget.

You could probably do this in software as well (I believe XP has built-in support for this).
