Well I have yet to figure out why I can't connect to a network or the internet. I have the motherboard mentioned in the title with Windows XP Pro installed on an SATA HD. In case you may not know I using an Athlon 64 proc with the mobo. I have tried both the onboard LAN and a nic card that I bought, both with the correct drivers. I've found that it's not do to EMI, Electromagnetic Interference, or that the cable is bad. I can use my old D875PBZ onboard LAN with it and it works fine, after reinstalling XP on it because of mobo differences. I've called ASUS about this and they can't figure anything out. If anyone has any ideas plz let me know ASAP because this is abolutely driving me crazy. Thanks in advance.

I'm confused. What nic are you using that is not working? Onboard nic, or pci nic?

If both fail, then I'm going to guess that it's not a problem with the system, but rather the cable or something else. Maybe the cable is works in one system, but doesn't connect properly to your ASUS nic?

Maybe you can borrow a USB nic to test from a friend or something?

actually I just got the PCI nic to work, stupid cable came loose at the other end and I didn't realize it. Tryin the onboard on again just to make sure it's broken. thanks for the advice though.
