I need a labeler to label cables, servers, and jacks.

We used to have something like this, but it was not very self adhesive and thus not to good for cable labeling. It worked great for other applications.

ive had good luck with both the handhelp and desktop / software labelers by Brady. Always prints perfect and never had a label come off...

I use a Brother 2610 to print lables for patch panel ports and routers/switches. It has both a DC adapter port and a USB port so I can print right from the PC with the included software. And of course it's also portable too so I can take it off-site and create labels on the fly. There's a newer 2700 series now, but essentially the same thing.

Are you trying to attach the label to the cable itself or attach the label to itself folder over the cable (like they do in your link - here ). If you're trying to attach the label to the cable itself I think you need to reconsider your methodology.

Zolty, Brother P-Touch is how it's done. They're expensive, but they're worth it. I've used other labelling systems and they're just not as good.

Costco and Sams have starter kits with a mid-range unit, batteries, and a few tapes. Great deal.

Staples and Office Depot carry the various TZ tapes. You'll want to stock up on an assortment. In particular, you need black on white, white on black, and black on clear, and then maybe at least one bold/annoying combo like black on yellow.

Watch out for the cheap baby Brother system, get the real P-Touch with real TZ tapes. They have some lower end line that's cheaper initially but more expensive in the long run.

As stated the Brother P-Touch is the easiest way .. What we usually do is put the information on the
label, then put about 5 spaces, then put the information again .. then hit Print .. when it comes out,
peel it back and put the cable on the spot Between the Printouts ... the tape sticks to Itself the rest of
the way .. This is called Flagging the connection ... you can read it from either side and it will not go
anywhere by itself ... 1/2 inch wide labels are fine, unless you have a lot to put on them and want
to use multiple lines ... then go with 3/4 in wide labels

I also use a Brother something-or-other. I have one of the bigger ones with the full keyboard. I can print on special labels for labeling the spines of slim jewel cases too. But I don't every use that feature.

Used a Dymo something, slightly bigger model than that, at my old job, worked fine for cables as well as servers/switches/routers.
