I'm working currently but the company is going to go under in the next year (bought out by a bigger company and I don't want to re-located to Texas).

I'm in the Northwest Indiana/Chicago-land area.

So...I'm looking for something in IT, would love to get into Systems Administration but I'd need a little training as I'm not experienced, could be something I transition into?

I am A+ certified and wanting to get my MCSE/Net+/CCNA at some point when I can afford it!

I have roughly 8yrs worth of Help Desk Support under me and I learn quickly. I'm looking for a career though, something I can stay in for quite awhile (hopefully until retirement) as I'm 27 now.

This is unrealistic for our field, as your skill sets grow you'll want to move around.

Good luck with your search.

Look into the cell companies. T-Mobile used to hire RF Engineer summer interns by the dozen and I think they probably still do.

I'm a recent graduate (no real work experience) with a Master of Science in computer engineering looking for a software engineering/embedded programming job. Anything related to robotics/computer vision/intelligent systems would be a huge plus. Most of my programming experience has been with C, with some small amounts of assembly and C++, but I was introduced to other languages and programming paradigms as well.

I'm currently in upstate SC, but willing to relocate.

Yay for fellow CompE grad! (I haven't finished yet, but I'll be in your position soon enough)

I don't know precisely what you specialize in, but I had a job offer about 2 weeks after I started looking. That caught me totally flat-footed, but you might find it encouraging.

We have over 40 positions open for Software engineers at our facility in Baltimore, MD. We are specifically looking for Java developers with 1-3 years of experience. I have already got a couple of folks from ATOT jobs and they can vouch for me. If you want a job by the end of the month. Let me know!

That's wonderful news! I won't finish until this time next year, so I'm hoping the job outlook is good then.

Hi All,

I do sales for a company and work with many customers who have need of some programmers/test and systems engineers. Specifically people with experience with National Instruments LabVIEW programming language. Also work for people with National Instruments TestStand experience (mostly contract work).

The specific jobs are in Nashua, NH, however I keep a list of consultants in my back pocket so if you have this skill set get in touch with me so I can recommend to various customers (Boston, Cambridge, North Shore, NH, Maine)

Email is in my profile.

I'm looking for entry level jobs(preferably IT) around north Ga or ATL area. Depending on area most likely not able to start until mid-Dec when I graduate with a psych degree.

I unfortunately do not have certs, or a comp sci degree (going back to get one next year), I have however worked in IT since 2004 in various positions. Also taking a java course at the moment, but would need more time to get better. I am willing to undergo any training and work towards getting any necessary certs.

Bachelors in CIS/MIS and minor in mathematics. Have 5 years of experience in the Information Systems field and an additional 3 years of Customer Service prior to that. I've worked in Technical Support, as a Security Administrator for two years and as an Application Administrator currently.

I've worked with Active Directory, Exchange, Citrix environments, VM's, SQL, plus more, and I've had experience in programming in Java, VB, SQL Script, HTML, COBOL, and more.

I'm mainly looking for something I can do working from home.

Few things are more annoying than hearing the same speech from employers over and over again.
"We like you. You've got the kind of experience and work ethic we really need here. But you dont have the precise skills we are looking for right now. And in this economy we can afford to wait until the perfect person comes along."

I did realize a few things though. Since it was a buddy who got me my last 5 interviews right here in town, I need to social network better. Knowing people is a lot more valuable for acquiring a job. Technical skills are more for keeping a job.
Also I think it would be healthy for me to get in the habit of interviewing more frequently. Even if I cant get a job right now the practice is good, and if I make a strong impression people are more likely to remember me later on, that could lead to opportunities I dont even know about. Also I realized I need to get my references in order. Most places ask about my last 3 jobs and only one of them even has a chance to be a reference, if they so desire.

Even then its been so long their word might not carry much weight.

Oh, and Micron Manassas is still in need of people for equipment technician jobs, specifically those who've worked robotics and below fab maintenance, like all the service tools that supply chemicals and electricity to the machines which actually process wafers.

When a job says "Ability to obtain and maintain and US Security Clearance", how do you know you can get one? I have a clean record, no bad history or anything and I am a US citizen.

Pretty much matches up with what you just described. You have to be a US citizen and shouldn't have any criminal/terrorist (ha) history. I honestly don't know too many people who have submitted for a clearance and not received it. The primary reason more people don't have clearances is probably because it's invasive (7-10 year history), and expensive to obtain (need a live opp generally).

last government clearance I went through required 10 years of addresses, family, associates, girl friends/boyfriends etc. They are thorough .

It looks like this thread has seen some activity in the past few days.

I am a recent graduate with an MASc in Electrical Engineering with an RF/Electromagnetics background. I have experience with computer modeling using software such as HFSS, MATLAB and ADS, and hardware experience with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc...

I'm looking for full time employment and would really appreciate some help with leads. If you would like to take a look at my resume, please do not hesitate to PM me or send me an e-mail at the address listed in my profile.

Thank you all in advance for taking a look at this!
