We have a new position which requires someone with in-depth experience in Unix systems administration. We have a Solaris infrastructure which we are migrating to Linux. In addition, we are just starting a NAS deployment (on NetApp FAS3020), have begun to use virtualization, and are consolidating much of our computing infrastructure on IBM Blades. This new position will be involved in the planning and deployment of all these technologies. Basically we are looking with someone with Unix Systems Administration Skills, preferably strong Linux with some Solaris, experience with NAS/SAN, Virtualization (VMware, Xen), and IBM blade technology.

The new position will focus on supporting the Computer Science Department and it's relatively new software engineering program. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills as they will be working with faculty, staff, and students frequently.

East Carolina University is part of the 16 campus University of North Carolina system and is located in Greenville, NC. We offer an excellent benefits package and a great working environment. The salary range is $60-70k/year. A bachelors degree is required with significant directly realted experience, a Masters degree is preferred.

You may apply at www.jobs.ecu.edu, search for the job title of Educational Systems Coordinator or call 252-328-9439.

I keep posting jobs as they become available here in Chicago, but I just realized, I work for a very large IT staffing company that covers the entire US!! I do have access to all of our positions at any time. If anyone is looking for a job in the IT field, perm, or contract, high level or low level, we generally can help you find something. For those of you new to working with IT staffing companies, I can explain to you about our company/send you a link etc.

I definitely have a great number of resources to help in anyone find a position in the IT field. And for those of you that are looking for people, I can definitely give you the right person to talk to you about our services, benefits, costs etc.

Anyhow, hope this helps, and I'll try to PM/post whenever I have a position as well. If you are interested, I can send you my phone number or email for more info, but would prefer to do that via PM.

Howdy all,

Just figured I would test the waters...

I graduate from Penn State Univerity this december with a bachelors in Information Science Technology. IS it too early to start looking for employment?

I am currently working as a Systems Adminitrator for the PA Careerlink just north of pittsburgh and have worked at this company just over five years. I oversee the network of about 300 pc's spanning three counties.

I love my job, but feel I have completed just about everything I can in this job role with no vertical move now possible. I'm basically looking for a decent job and a bit of excitement.

Thanks,
Josh
