Networking Problems

Last night it was working fine, but I wake up this morning and turn on my PC and suddenly my XP machine won't recognize my network no matter what I do. I can't access the internet, or even access my routers setup page (linksys BEFSR41). When I try to repair the network connection I get a repair failed in "Renewing the IP address"

The network card is onboard a Soyo Dragon + mobo I think its a VIA.

I'm currently posting from another computer (win98 machine) connected to the same router.

--edit--
Ok now it's suddenly working. This has happened a few times in the past. What's going on here?

I've tried a few cat5 cables and powercycled like a mo non of it worked, it just sort of fixed itself.

firmwares are all up to date.

Flaky onboard ethernet adapter.
Get another adapter and use it for awhile, see if the problem continues.

Or next time it happens restore computer to previous date.
Could be driver issue or another background application, such as firewall.
