I'm trying to share a folder from a WinXP Pro machine to a WinXP Home machine. Both running SP2, no firewalls except for Windows. Some folders that appear in my network connections are fine, I can browse them as well as open and copy files from them.

However, the new files that I am trying to share are not being shared. I right click, sharing and security, click on share, apply, done. When I try to double click on the folder it tells me I may not have permission to access this folder.

The thing that perplexes me is that I can access other shared folders with no problem whatsoever. Please advise!

Make sure both machines have a password set for the administrator account. If you have a blank password for either one you will not be able to share.
